Acadian Ministry

In Canada, the maritime region is a region that distinguishes itself by its vast spaces and its peaceful atmosphere with its marine air and pleasant people.  What makes it most attractive however, is the Acadian people.

The Acadians are in fact a nation formed by Micmacs, Malecites and Europeans originating from France, New-England, Germany, Switzerland, England, Ireland and Scotland.  They speak their own dialect which is essentially based on French, English and indigenous languages.  The term “Acadian” comes from the “Micmac” word “la Quaddy”, which means “fertile land”.

Though Acadians speak English and French, the francophone sector is difficult to reach with the message of the Gospel.  Many francophone Acadians hold strongly to their Roman Catholic origins, a key element to their survival as a nation. However, we believe that the love of God transcends religious rituals, most powerfully demonstrated in the reality and glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus-Christ.  It is our hope that many will turn to Him and be saved, and will taste the deep love of our God.

This ministry is motivated by love and devoted to prayer and relationship.  With a focus on praying for the specific needs of others and demonstrating compassion and support towards those needs, permanent relationships are being developed. We want to see the glory and the reality of God alive in the Maritimes among the Acadian peoples.
