Toronto Christian Alliance
We are committed to building up a missional, cross-cultural church.
The Shenzhou Church has been a refuge for refugees and new immigrants for many years. Many people received Jesus through this ministry in the past. Founding pastor Ellen Rae decided to leave the ministry to complete the theological training, placing the church in the care of a new pastor, Kwan Wa Ho. Through his love for the Lord, he will care for the many refugees and new immigrants that Toronto receives each year.
Under the Refugee Protection category, there are about 40,000 referred cases and 65,000 pending in Canada in the years 2008-2009 according to Stats Can. There are many challenges involved in working among the refugees and new immigrants. They come to Canada with hurt from political/religious persecution, financial difficulties due to debts, loan sharks and interest rates as high as 20-40%/annum, marriage crisis due to long-time separation of spouses for as long as 10 years in extreme cases, language problems due to lack of schooling and training etc...
It takes an organization with very strong financial backup to support a ministry like this. In the past, the ministry was heavily funded by the Presbyterian Church of Canada. People within the church simply do not have the financial viability to make sufficient donations to support the ministry. But we took another leap of faith when we decided to leave the Presbytery to merge with the C&MA in Canada and look forward to seeing what this partnership will mean.
Leadership provided by:
…Kwan Wa Ho.
I am Alliance inside and out. I have been baptized in the Alliance church, and worked part-time in that church as a lay pastor. I have planted an Alliance church and studied in the Alliance seminary. After that, I worked as a full-time pastor in the Alliance church again. I have been deeply inspired by the Alliance thoughts and history. Although the Alliance now is very different from the Alliance then, I have a heart to build up a church that is not self-centered, but out-reaching, and that is not self-sufficient, but dependent on God.
Consider Partnering by:
…Trust and trust and trust. Trust in the spirit of the Lord, that he will revive His church. Trust in us, the ministers of the spirit, that we faithfully serve the Lord according to his will. Trust in the provision of the provision of the Lord, that he is Adonai-jireh. For the first trust, please pray for a great end-time revival. For the second trust, please pray for us that God continue to pour His Spirit upon us to faithfully preach the good news to the people who are poor, lowly and afflicted, who are hungry and seek with eager desire, and who weep and cry out now. For the third trust, please pray that God will provide the resources we require to meet the needs of the people of God through natural and supernatural means.
