Short Term Information

Churches are sending teams all over the world. The benefits are that people often return with a deeper appreciation of God’s heart for the world, awareness of how to pray for our international workers, and at times they themselves sense a call to serve God in this way. Also, there are some partnerships which allow the development of relationships which lead to people hearing the good news and becoming followers of Jesus. Yet there are many pitfalls as well, most notably the “tourist” mentality that can so easily take over the most well-meaning teams.

Training for teams before they leave has become more important than ever. Are we ready to go as true servants, lay aside our comforts? Are we willing to see another’s culture and customs as important to learn and respect? What does the Bible teach us about God’s redemptive plan unfolding in the world today? How do we work as a team? How can we bless others?

If you are looking for great Short Term Missions training materials, our sister Ontario district (the Central Canadian District) has produced several options. www.cmaccd.com (click on Global Ministries). Feel free to download material from there. Note that the ECD office here has the “Go Prepared” video on hand for lending.

*Be aware that Risk Management material is required to be read and acted upon for all short term missions teams endorsed by Alliance churches
